Georgia State Patrol and Walton County Sheriff’s Office worked the traffic incident that happened on Highway 78 in Loganville on Wednesday afternoon.
A 20-year-old Monroe man ran into a pickup truck in the westbound lanes of Highway 78 on Wednesday afternoon after causing the car driven by his mother to run off the road. According to SFC Doug Wilson, post commander of Monroe’s Georgia State Patrol office, a woman was traveling west on Highway 78 with her infant daughter in the car and her 20-year-old son in the passenger seat. “During the conversation, he snatched the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the road, but the driver was able to maintain control of the car and stop before striking a tree,” Wilson said, adding that the man told authorities it was his intention to force the car into a tree. “He then exists the car and runs out into 78 traffic in the westbound lane, …

Charges have been filed against two motorcyclists involved in a wreck in Oconee County on Friday that resulted in multiple injuries, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The accident happened at about 7:15 p.m. on Ga. 53 near Oconee Crossing. According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened following a chase that originated in Walton County and involved the Walton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol. Multiple people were injured in an accident involving motorcycles and a car Friday around 7:15 p.m. on Ga. 53 near Oconee Crossing. According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened following a chase that originated in Walton County and involved the Walton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol. "There were no fatalities," OCSO posted on Facebook. "We can't specifically comment on the medical condition on anyone involved. With that said, the driver of the car that was hit by the motorcycles was not transported to the hospital." No other details were available at this time.

Walton County Sheriff's Office has put out an alert on behalf of the Newton County Sheriff's Office for Jordan Marie Aaron, Alias of Krystal Lee Rhoades, W/F, brown hair, blue eyes, 5’07, 154. Jordan Marie Aaron, 13, was last seen at 9pm Wednesday, May 1 2013. When her parents went in to her room around 6am on the Thursday, May 2, the teen was not in her bed. Her makeup and hair products were also missing. This case is currently being treated as a runaway, though investigators are looking at every angle and very much want to make sure this teen is safe. One of the many calls the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to during the last two days of April included a hay barn fire on Bold Springs Road. According to the WCSO Zone Alerts, juveniles were suspected of starting the fire. Local law enforcement, including the Monroe Fire Department, subscribe to the Juvenile Firesetter Program. According to the MFD website, juvenile firesetting is the fastest growing fire threat in the United States with 80,000 structure fires per year started by juveniles. This results in approximately 760 deaths and more than 3,500 injuries.
