Early Dismissal Scheduled Tuesday for Walton County Schools

Schools will close two hours early and all after school activities will be canceled Jan. 28 due to the expected winter storm.

The Walton County School District will be closing two hours earlier Tuesday (Jan. 28) due to the expected winter storm coming to the metro Atlanta area. 

The school system posted the following message on its website:

"Tomorrow, (Tuesday, January 28th), school will be dismissed 2 hours early and all after school activities will be canceled due to severe weather. This means that buses will bring students home and that car riders should be picked up 2 hours earlier than usual. Please caution your student drivers and other family members to be very cautious on the roads."

According to the National Weather Service, the winter storm warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 1 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 29). There is an 80 to 90 percent chance of snow mainly from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. Snow accumulation is expected to be one to two inches.
