Wind Advisory Issued for Walton County Overnight Into Friday

Several counties in north and central Georgia are under wind advisories from 6 p.m. Thursday until 7 p.m. Friday

According to Weather.com, the National Weather Service in Atlanta issued a Wind Advisory for much of north and central Georgia from 6 p.m. this evening, Dec. 20, 2012, until 7 p.m. Friday. Winds west from 15 to 25 mph are expected with gusts of up to 35 mph. The greatest intensity is expected from midnight Thursday through to 7 p.m. on Friday.

The impact of this could be:

  • Driving high profile vehicles may become difficult, especially on north to south oriented roads.
  • Loose objects may be blown around.
  • Some tree limbs may be knocked down

A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 20 mph, or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution.
