Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman warned residents to be wary of a new crime they were dealing with in the county - robbery of people advertising items on Craigslist.
"We had a man advertising a diamond ring," Chapman told residents at the TRIAD meeting on Friday. "Two females and a male came to take a look at it. The male parked the car a little way up the road - that should have been his first clue."
Chapman said one of the females tried on the ring and then the two women took off with the ring.
"I think we got five people in jail last night (Thursday) - we caught them pretty quick," Chapman said. He did, however, warn people to be wary of advertising items on Craigslist and giving out their home address to people.
Chapman also told TRIAD members about a rash of burglaries that the county had experience .
"We got him in jail too," Chapman said. "He had done seven or eight robbreies in Walton County and a number in Barrow."
