Two More Arrested in Connection with Monroe Murder Case

Police believe robbery was the motive behind the Aug. 10 crime. An arrest isn't a conviction.

The investigation into the Aug. 10 shooting death of Ray Murphy has led Monroe Police to charge two more men in connection with the crime.

Blake Ramone Harris has been jailed on a felony murder charge and Benny James Crutchfield Jr. has been charged with armed robbery, according to Assistant Chief R.V. Watts. The first man arrested was 25-year-old Kevin Boyd.  He faces a felony murder charge.  All three men are from Monroe.

"I believe that the investigation will show that some of these individuals might have known who Ray Murphy was before this incident but that is still to be determined as the investigation continues," Watts wrote in an email to Patch.

Watt said robbery appears to be the motive, but the case is still open and active.
