The 8 year old suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon and was flown to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta, according to police. A Monroe Homeowner stabbed a pit bull to death last week when it attacked her and her dog.

An 8-year-old boy suffered "very serious injuries" after being attacked by a pit bull at an Athens home on Saturday, Athens-Clarke County police said.

Officers were called to a Hidden Lake Drive address shortly before 1 p.m. where the child had been bitten multiple times, according to a news release. The boy was life-flighted to Egleston Hospital.

"The boy and his older brother were visiting the home of a family friend and had been playing with the homeowner's dog," the release stated. "As the two boys began to wrestle, suddenly the dog became excited and bit the eight year old multiple times causing very serious injuries." The brother wasn't harmed, police noted.
