Monroe PD Seeking Information on Saturday's Shooting

Ray Lamar Murphy, 34, was shot and killed in Monroe on Aug. 10, 2013. GBI is assisting in investigation.

The Monroe Police Department is asking for information regarding a shooting in the City of Monroe on Saturday that resulted in the death of a 34-year-old Monroe Man.                                   

In a press release from Chief Keith Glass, director of Public Safety for the City of Monroe, the department requested that anyone with information contact Capt. S.W. Treadwell at 770-267-7576. 

At about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, officers were called to 718 Reed St. in Monroe where a wounded Ray Lamar Murphy, 34, was found laying on his back in front of the residents. 

"Officers secured the scene so Fire and  EMS units could provide medical aid to Murphy and transport him to Clearview Regional Hospital," Glass said in the release. "Murphy died at approximately 0355 11 Aug 2013."

Glass said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the MPD are actively investigating the shooting. Anyone with any information helpful to the case is asked to contact MPD.
