A Monroe Area High School student was killed in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday (Aug. 27) near the school.

A 15-year-old boy was struck by three vehicles around 6:40 a.m. at 1245 North Broad Street near Double Springs Church Road, according to Georgia State Patrol. His name has not been released due to family being notified first.

Only one of the vehicles stopped at the scene. Georgia State Patrol and the Walton County Sheriff's Office are searching for the remaining two vehicles.

Troopers believe the pedestrian was hit first by a silver Honda, then a Ford Ranger and then by a tan Tahoe. The Honda and the Tahoe left the scene.  The Honda may possibly have damage to the front end.

Anyone with information is asked to call either the Walton County Sheriff's Office or the Georgia State Patrol in Monroe.
