Witnesses reported that vehicles heading westbound were forced into the median to avoid being struck head on by the convertible.

The vehicle was eventually located at the Waffle House in the area of Unisia Drive in Monroe. According to the incident report, the driver, who was standing next to his car, was reported to have a strong smell of alcohol on his person, his eyes were glazed and his speech slurred. He reportedly said he had “drank a few” but refused field sobriety tests and the breath test. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence – refusal. The name on the incident report was Thomas Williamson, but no age or address was given.
