Hit and Run Involving Pedestrian Reported on Highway 11 in Monroe

The incident happened on June 6. A man later responded to the scene saying he knew he hit something, but couldn't locate anyone or anything at the time.

According to the incident report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene of a pedestrian hit by an automobile at 4:10 a.m. on June 6. The victim was being attended to by Walton County EMS personnel and deputies reported finding tracks in the grass that indicated that a vehicle had run off the road and then returned to the correct lane of travel. A woman later arrived on the scene and advised deputies that her husband, Bryan Baker, had called to say he thought he hit something on his way to work. He turned around and attempted to find what it was, but was unable to find anything. He was advised to come to the scene.

At this time it is not known what, if any, charges are pending. Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident. Please note charges or an arrest do not indicate a conviction.

Zone 2

  • Entering Auto – The passenger side window of a vehicle was broken while parked at Criswell Park. A purse was taken from the vehicle.
  • Prowler – Walton County deputies responded twice to a location in reference to subjects allegedly knocking on windows and doors at a residence on Miranda Drive. Subjects were not found.

  • Drug Activity – A complaint was made on a Lot in Magnolia Ridge in reference to a subject using drugs.

Zone 4

  • Dispute – A dispute occurred between two subjects on Mt. Vernon Rd. The parties were separated and one subject was issued a Criminal Trespass warning.
  • Animal Complaint – On River Run in Appalachee Falls, a vicious canine was taken into custody after attempting to attack a victim.
  • Theft – A chainsaw and a backpack blower was taken from an unsecured shed on John Deere Rd.
  • Theft Report – A silverware set was taken from a residence on Phillips Court.
  • Extra Patrol – Be on the lookout for a white male driving an older white Jeep Cherokee in the Old Athens Hwy area.

 Zone 5

  • Suspicious Vehicle – A white Pontiac Trans Am and a gold Chevrolet Tahoe passed by a residence on Rosewood Way multiple times while making threats.
  • Hit and Run – A subject was hit by a vehicle while walking on the shoulder of Highway 11. The vehicle left the scene.

Zone 6

  • Suspicious Person – A white male, driving a dark blue Ford Explorer, exposed himself to a female subject on Thomas Drive. Get the full story on Loganville-Grayson Patch.
  • Harassment – A subject was reportedly harassing another subject on Pointer Rd. 
  • Theft – A boat tag was taken from a boat at Cobblestone Drive.
  • Harassing Call – A subject on Holly Ridge Court  in Cevera Lakes received a phone call asking for insurance information.
  • Damage to Property – A residence on Logans Bluff was egged by unknown subjects.
  • Fire Assist – Walton County deputies responded to a fire behind Country Store on Hwy 20.

Zone 7  

  • Extra Patrol – Extra patrol was requested in reference to vehicles being seen on a property on Hwy 138 during the day and night.
  • Harassment – Items were taken from a residence on Monroe Jersey Rd. A suspect was named and later arrested for Battery and Theft by Taking.
  • Theft – A subject who lives on Sterling Water Drive was accused of stealing gas.
  • Suspicious Person – A white female and a white male were seen in the area of Ashley Falls subdivision acting suspiciously.
  • Theft Report – Items were reportedly taken from a residence on Hillview Drive.
  • Suspicious Person – A white male was seen running behind a residence on Stewart Rd. Extra Patrol is requested.
