Captain D's in Monroe Readies to Rebuild

The restaurant was destroyed by fire in the early morning hours of Jan. 20, 2013. Officials at HQ in Nashville, Tenn., confirm the restaurant will be rebuilt on the original site.

The protection fence is up and the hard hat area marked off - all indications are Captain D's in Monroe is getting ready to rebuild.

Officials at the Captain D's Headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. confirmed that the company plans to rebuild at the same location. 

"There are, however, insurance details etc. to be worked out so we can't yet say exactly when it will be ready to re-open," a spokesman said.

It was Since then, customers have been anxious to know when it will be rebuilt.

Monroe city officials confirmed that members of the planning department are scheduled to meet with officials from Captain D's on Tuesday. The permit to rebuild has not yet been issued, according to the Monroe Planning Department, but officials confirm that there would be no delay once it has been issued.

The news should make area residents happy. Many had commented on the original story that they hoped it would be rebuilt.

"Hope they rebuild, Love Captain D's," Cyndi Cantrell had written. Lauren Allen and Lynn R echoed those sentiments.
