State Democratic Caucus Opposes the Charter Schools Amendment

Senator Steve Henson, leader of the caucus, talks about why it's a bad idea for Georgia.

It's not about charter schools, people like to say. Amendment 1 is about money, big money that wants to take over and wreck public schools in Georgia.

In today's AJC, Steve Henson lays out his reasons, and the caucus's reasons, for opposing the amendment. He says:

One critical issue voters will decide on doesn’t have a name or political platform; yet, it has the potential to drastically change the face of public education in Georgia for our children and grandchildren. The Charter School Constitutional Amendment on the November ballot would reshape the way we fund secondary education.
