Georgia vs. Auburn Football: One Last Hurdle

A victory Saturday should send the Bulldogs to the SEC championship game.

Auburn's not very good this year. They're still looking for an SEC win, and Georgia might not be the best place to find it.

The Bulldogs, while romping through some rough patches, are ranked fifth in the country and need only beat the Tigers to wrap up the SEC East Division and play for the league championship.

Of course, Bulldogs coach Mark Richt isn't preparing his team for a cakewalk.

"I told the guys `Get your mind right, right now,"' Richt said in an Associated Press story earlier this week. "We know they're capable of knocking us off."

The Dawgs will be bringing a depleted receiving corps to Auburn. Marlon Brown was reported out for the season earlier this week after tearing an ACL against Mississippi. And the Bulldogs lost Michael Bennett weeks ago.

That means more pressure on some backup offensemen.

''Certainly, people are going to have to step up,'' said Tavarres King, a senior tied with Brown for team receptions, told the Associated Press. ''We're going to need everybody. It's all hands on deck.''

Auburn coach Gene Chizik is taking extra steps to keep track of all his hands. The team has reportedly hired a security company to make sure players are respecting their 11 p.m. curfew.

The next question for the Bulldogs, should they win convincingly at Auburn, is just how far they can go. Bleacher Report contributor Jeff Bell argues the team still has a shot at the national title game.

"Obviously, a lot needs to fall in Georgia's favor for them to be playing in Miami on January 7th," Bell writes. "But if they can make their way through the rest of their own schedule, there's a decent chance they'll get their opportunity."

What do you think? Could the Bulldogs take it all the way this year?
