Victim Identified in Monroe Hit and Run

Georgia State Patrol is seeking information regarding the driver of a vehicle believed to be a white Ford SUV involved in a Hit and Run in Monroe on Friday.

Georgia State Patrol has identified the driver injured by a hit and run on Friday in Monroe as William Scarborough, 76, of Monroe.

According to a GSP spokesman, Scarborough was walking on West Spring Street in Monroe, in the vicinity of Carwood Drive (the Huddle House and Hometown Tire) at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle, believed to be a white Ford SUV.

"Mr. Scarborough was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries. He is in ICU," the spokesman said.

GSP is asking anyone with information on the vehicle or the person driving the vehicle at the time to call the GSP office in Monroe at 770-464-1800, especially auto repair shops.

"The SUV will have damage to the passenger side and will be missing the passenger side mirror," he said.
