Inmate Commits Suicide in Walton County Jail

Myron Edward Kulich, 52, from Covington, was awaiting trial on statutory rape and sexual molestation charges.

Authorities from the Walton County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the Georgia Bureau of Investigations has been called in to investigate the alleged suicide of an inmate at the Walton County Detention Center.

According to a spokesperson for Cpl. Scott Whisnant with the WCSO, Myron Edward Kulich, 52, of Covington, was discovered deceased in the facility on Wednesday, July 3. No details regarding manner of death or how his was discovered were shared at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Authorities did confirm, however, the Kulich was charged in August 2012 with statutory rape, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

In a separate incident, CBS News reported that a Missouri man, convicted of child molestation last week, committed suicide by swalling a cyanide pill in the courtroom immediately after his conviction.

In this case, Kulich's case had not yet gone to trial.

Please note an arrest does not constitute a conviction.
