Man Burned by Suspected Meth Lab Fire Remains Hospitalized - Oconee Patch

An Oconee County man who was flown to an Atlanta hospital for treatment of burns to his face authorities believe were caused by a small-scale methamphetamine lab explosion remains hospitalized.

Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry said Wednesday that charges have not been filed against the man but they are pending.

Oconee Fire and Rescue personnel were called to a house in the 1000 block of East Haven Trail just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 14 in response to a kitchen fire, according to a report. When they arrived, they say they fire was already out, but a resident was burned.

- Alpharetta Patch

Authorities rescued some 40 cats from an Alpharetta home that reportedly contained feces up to six inches deep and animals living in the walls.

A woman contacted Fulton County Animal Services to say she couldn't care for the cats her deceased mother left behind at the Rucker Road homeCBS Atlanta reports.

Workers and volunteers wearing HAZMAT gear reported finding cats throughout the house, including in between the walls, and spent Monday and Tuesday loading up the animals to be taken to a veterinarian for assessment and treatment, according to WSB-TV.

Coach Resigns After Public Indecency Arrest - East Cobb Patch

former NFL linebacker accused of exposing himself to a woman in an East Cobb subdivision last month has resigned from his job at a Sandy Springs school.

Reginald Burnette submitted his resignation as Mount Vernon Presbyterian School head football coach last week.

Carjacking Suspects Need Victim's Help to Start Car - Stone Mountain Patch

Two carjacking suspects were apprehended by DeKalb county police earlier this month, on the same day they allegedly stole a car that wouldn't start without help from the victim.

The incident happened Feb. 3 in the 4600 block of Weyburn Lane in unincorporated Stone Mountain. The victim, of Snellville, was preparing his deceased father's home for rent by cleaning out the home and the garage, where he said two males approached around 11:25 a.m.

The first suspect pointed a handgun at him and demanded his wallet.
