Peanut Butter Recall Expanded to Include Target Brand

A type of Archer Farms peanut butter and almond butter were added to a list of products possibly tainted with Salmonella.

A voluntary recall of peanut butter has been expanded to include a brand sold at Target stores.

Earlier this month, Sunland, Inc. issued a recall of Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter after concerns it may be contaminated with Salmonella. Sunland also makes products for Archer Farms, a label sold exclusively at Target.

Sunland is now recalling 16 ounce jars of Archer Farms' Creamy Almond Butter and Peanut Butter with Flax Seeds along with a number of other products, many of which are available for sale online.

The possibly contaminated products were manufactured between May 1, 2012 and September 24, 2012. The containers will have a Best If Used By Date between May 1, 2013 and September 24, 2013.

Twenty-nine people in 18 states have reported contracting Salmonella after eating the affected Sunland products. Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

If you purchased a product with one of the Best If Used By Dates mentioned above, please return the jar to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

Customers can also call Sunland's hotline at 1-866-837-1018 with any additional questions.
