Customers Flock to Newly-Rebuilt Captain D's in Monroe

The restaurant on Spring Street, which burned to the ground in January, reopened last week.

Much to the delight of Monroe residents, Captain D's reopened its doors on Oct. 2, a little more than eight months after the popular quick-service restaurant on Spring Street burned to the ground.

Many customers were left wondering if the company would rebuild following the accidental fire on Jan. 20.  But those questions were put to rest in February when Captain D's confirmed reconstruction would take place at the original site.

Excited to be among the first to see the new beach design and dive into their favorite seafood dishes once again, customers packed the restaurant on opening week.  Business was so busy that Monroe Police officers were on hand to direct the flow of traffic.

"We're glad to be back in Monroe," exclaimed the company's Director of Operations for the Greater Atlanta Area, Tim O'Leary. "We hope we've totally wowed everybody."

The beach model features vibrant greens and blues in what O'Leary described as a "retro-modern style."  There's a new look to the menu boards and a different food presentation, as meals are served on plates accompanied by silverware instead of plasticware.  There are also more seating options.

Plans are in the works for a grand opening to be held later this month, but O'Leary said the date of the celebration hasn't yet been determined.

Have you visited Captain D's since its reopening? What do you think about the beach design and new menu items? Please share about your experience in the comments below.
