After 4 Generations, Sanders Furniture is Closing

The Monroe store, opener in 1934, will soon close its doors.

After more than 60 years in downtown Monroe, Sander’s Furniture Company will close its doors for good.

The store, opened in 1934, is located at 110 North Broad Street.

Its liquidation sale began Nov. 27, according to a press release emailed to Patch.

Sanders Furniture Company, a leading retailer of quality home furnishings in Monroe has been serving local communities for more than 100 years. The Monroe location, owned and operated by Charles Sanders, is closing. A store closing sale starts Wed., Nov. 27 at the Monroe location only.

Sanders Furniture Company is located at 110 N Broad St in the heart of downtown Monroe. The store operates in a beautiful historic, two story building in downtown Monroe and also has a large clearance outlet in the back of the store.

Founded in 1913 by Charles’ grandfather, M.T. Sanders, Sr., Sanders Furniture Company first opened its doors in Commerce, Ga. By 1934, Sanders’ son, M.T. Sanders, Jr., had opened a second location in Monroe and by the 1950s, five stores were open and serving communities throughout northeast Georgia.

Over the years, Sanders Furniture in Monroe has prided itself on customer service, design, personal touch and serving its customers the highest quality home furnishings since 1913. Sanders has a full showroom of the leading brands: La-Z-Boy, Broyhill, Stanley, Hooker, Sam Moore and Howard Miller, Benchmade Leather, Universal bedrooms, Kingsdown and Jamison mattresses, among others. Fine selections of oriental rugs from around the world and unique one- of-a kind reclaimed wood pieces will be available at huge savings exclusively at the Monroe location.

During the sale, exclusive savings will be available on a wide selection of products throughout the showroom at the Monroe location only. Items are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis on every product throughout the store.

This closing sale is truly a celebration of the customers that Sanders Furniture has been able to serve over the last 100 years. “We are grateful to our wonderful community for allowing us to serve generations of customers,” said Charles Sanders.

He is echoed by his daughter, Tora, who has worked at Sanders Furniture Company for the last 15 years, “We love this community. It has been a privilege and honor to serve our customers over the years and we look forward to the future.”
