Some special athletes from Walton County participated in the Special Olympics Winter Games in Marietta this past weekend.
Big Sports Report had a write-up on the basketball competition between the Brookwood Brocos and the Walton County Warriors. It reports that despite some great play by No. 4, Trequon, of the Walton County Warriers, they didn't manage to hold on, eventually losing to the Broncos 22-18.
Amanda Reed said she cannot thank the local committee enough for the everything they have done for the special athletes. Reed was also a volunteer and coach. Her daughter, Courtnee, was a participant in the games.
Athletes from across the state competed in artistic gymnastics, bowling, floor hockey, basketball, powerlifting and roller skating between Jan. 25 and 27, 2013.
If you have a picture of a special athlete who participated, please upload it here for us to feature on Patch.
