Get a Jump on Georgia’s Leafwatch 2012

Today is the first day of fall and Georgia State Parks are gearing up for Leafwatch 2012.

Goodbye Summer, hello Fall!

Today is the first day of fall and effectively the beginning of the end of 2012. Before we know it, Halloween candy will all be gone, the Thanksgiving turkey leftovers will be ready to throw out of the refrigerator and we’ll be wondering how to pay for Christmas.

In the meantime, we get to experience the pleasures of fall – the crisp, cool air, the signs of the harvest and the amazing colors and golden showers of the fall foliage. After the heat of summer, autumn is always a welcome relief.

If you want to see the true splendor of Georgia's fall foliage, check back here on Oct. 1 as Georgia State Parks begin Leafwatch 2012.

I took this picture in my Monroe neighborhood as the first signs of fall began to appear. Upload your pictures here as you watch your community transition from summer, to fall and eventually to winter. Let's see if we can find a stunning fall backdrop to the Monroe Facebook page.
